‘Shazam!’ Cast Hangs With DC Films Chief Walter Hamada

Zachary Levi Shazam DCSome Shazam! cast members share pictures with DC Films chief Walter Hamada in Burbank and in front of a DC Rebirth mural.

Some of the younger members of the Shazam! cast hit Burbank with DC Films head Walter Hamada as shared by Faithe Herman’s on her personal Twitter account.

More interestingly, however, was that the cast sat down in front of a mural decked out with art from comic book DC Universe Rebirth #1, the first issue in DC’s company-wide relaunch prioritizing the return of “hope” — as described by Geoff Johns — to their superhero stories. It’s only fitting that the Shazam! family would sit in front of it, as many fans actively hope that the film will serve as a soft reboot of sorts for the DCEU where the films aren’t ashamed of their comic book origins.

Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Grace Fulton, Jack Dylan Grazer, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Djimon Honsou and Mark Strong as Doctor Sivana. Here’s the official synopsis:

“We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).”

Shazam! hits theaters on April 5, 2019.
