‘Shazam!’ Cinematographer Confirms First Trailer Drops At SDCC

David F. Sandberg Shazam BTS Geoff JohnsShazam! cinematographer Maxime Alexandre has taken to social media to confirm the film’s first official trailer will debut this year at San Diego Comic-Con.

After the release of the first official still from the film earlier today, Alexandre took to Twitter and Instagram to share the news. While the release of the trailer alongside the Aquaman trailer was already likely considering the tease from director David F. Sandberg, this is the first word we’ve heard of it from anyone involved with the production that the trailer will indeed make its debut. The Warner Bros. presentation begins Saturday, July 21 at 10:30 AM PST in Hall H.

Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Grace Fulton, Jack Dylan Grazer, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand and Mark Strong as Doctor Sivana. Here’s the official synopsis:

“We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).”

Shazam! hits theaters on April 5, 2019.
