‘Silver & Black’ Director Seemingly Confirms Production Delay

Black Cat Silver SableSilver & Black director Gina Prince-Bythewood has seemingly confirmed that the Marvel project from Sony Pictures has been delayed indefinitely.

Prince-Bythewood has been attached to Silver & Black for months now, but there had been no movement on the project until last week when it was revealed that Sony has hired Lindsey Beer and Geneva Robertson-Dworet to write the script. About a week later, The Hashtag Show broke a rumor claiming that the project “has been delayed indefinitely,” something that the director has now seemingly confirmed on Twitter.

The film centers on Silver Sable and Black Cat, two characters with strong ties to Spider-Man. Production was initially expected to begin in Atlanta next month for a February 2019 release, but with Beer and Robertson-Dworet now working on the script, Sony’s likely going to push the project back even further.

Sony intends to launch its own cinematic universe featuring various Spider-Man characters, beginning with Venom, which opens in theaters later this year. Following the releases of both Venom and Silver & Black, Sony also has plans to release a film based on the Marvel Comics character Morbius, the Living VampireThat script is currently being worked on by Matt Sazama and Burk Shapless, who wrote the story for the 2017 Power Rangers reboot from Lionsgate.
