Simon Kinberg Confirms Fox Is Still Working On ‘Fantastic Four’ Sequel

After massively under performing at the box office, it’d be safe to assume that Fox wasn’t too happy with the performance of this year’s Fantastic Four. The studio has had a sequel date set for 2017 and everything that t I’d been hearing indicated that they would indeed be moving forward with the sequel and it appears that is the case. Writer & producer Simon Kinberg recently spoke with MTV News and stated:

I’m really focused on the next one. I do believe there is a great ’Fantastic Four’ movie that we’ve made with that cast. So I’m gonna figure out what that is. We’re figuring out what that movie would be. I’d like that to happen.

While this doesn’t exactly mean that the sequel will move forward, it does confirm that Fox hasn’t pulled the plug on the project.

Kinberg also commented on the fans negative reaction to the film:

I was obviously disappointed. I was most disappointed that fans didn’t like it. I care more about them than I do anyone else. But I haven’t done a full deep dive on it. Do I think it was unfairly treated? I don’t know.

I’ve been on plenty of happy movies that don’t turn out to be very good movies, I’ve been on a lot of unhappy, difficult sets that turn out to be great movies. There was a lot of attention on the process of making that movie. It’s hard, when you’re making a movie, movies are hard to make. It’s just the reality.

While a majority of fans didn’t receive the film too well, there were indeed some that enjoyed the project which includes a couple of us here at Heroic Hollywood. Which group were you in? Are you still interested in a Fantastic Four sequel if it still hits theaters on June 9, 2017?
