Simon Kinberg is currently busy doing the promotion rounds for The Martian but that’s not the only film he had come out this year. The writer and producer was also heavily involved in this year’s Fantastic Four but that one didn’t fare as well with critics or audiences. There’s been a lot of controversy surrounding the film and talk about exactly why the film crashed and burned. Kinberg weighed in with his thoughts.
When asked about director Josh Trank’s damning tweet regarding the final product and if he believed that it hurt the film’s box office, Kinberg had the following to say on the matter.
However, regardless of that tweet it seems Simon Kinberg isn’t holding any kind of grudge and admits he’d work with Trank again in “the right context”. There’s been plenty of talk about whether or not Fox would bring in Marvel to help with the franchise similar to what Sony did with Spider-Man but to his knowledge there’s currently no talk about that happening.
Kinberg is also heavily involved in Fox’s X-Men films and is a producer on the upcoming Deadpool, Gambit & X-Men: Apocalypse. So, what are the long term plans for Fox’s mutant properties?
X-Men: Apocalypse is set to hit theaters May 27, 2016.
