Sony & Paramount Join Marvel By Not Attending SDCC This Year

Just a couple of weeks after Marvel Studios announced that they wouldn’t attend San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H panel, Variety is reporting that Sony and Paramount have followed suit.

While speaking to Variety, a spokesperson clarified that

It wasn’t a knock against Comic-Con, the film cycles just didn’t allow it.

It appears that Sony and Paramount are copping the same plea as Marvel, claiming they do not have enough material to promote in Hall H. The added cost of sending a number of movies to Comic-Con is expensive some even range six to seven figures. Since they do not have enough material It leaves one exec asking

why force the issue?

I know Marvel Studios always steals the show and Sony always has something on Spider-Man, so them not being in Hall H should cause some uneasiness. Although, you shouldn’t worry Warner Bros. And DC Comics has a special event in store for you. With rumors of Batman, Superman, Aquaman, The Flash and a confirmation of Jessie Eisenbergs Lex Luthor appearing for over an hour, but that’s not even half the fun.

With Disney bringing Star Wars: Episode 7, Lionsgate bringing The Hunger Games for its final bout with SDCC and FOX bringing their Marvel panel promoting Deadpool and X-Men: Apocalypse we still have a lot to look forward too in Hall H 2015.
