Sony has hired Lindsey Beer and Geneva Robertson-Dworet to write the screenplay for the upcoming Silver & Black movie, a film centering on prominent Spider-Man characters Silver Sable and Black Cat, per the Hollywood Reporter.
Beer and Robertson-Dworet have developed quite a bit of geek credibility over the last year. Beer worked on Chaos Walking, the upcoming post apocalyptic thriller starring Daisey Ridley and Tom Holland and was a member of several writers rooms, including Transformers, King Kong vs. Godzilla, and Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming Star Trek project. Robertson-Dworet was a screenwriter for this year’s Tomb Raider reboot, as well as another high-profile Marvel gig, next year’s Captain Marvel, starring Brie Larson.
Gina Prince-Bythewood is still on board to direct Silver & Black, and she also contributed an earlier version of the script. The film was originally scheduled for an October 2018 release, but with new writers and no casting announcements, it’s a safe bet we won’t see the film until 2019 at the earliest.
