Writers for Marvel’s ‘Spider-Man’ are Officially Confirmed

Marvel Studios is hard at work incorporating Spider-Man into their cinematic universe and a big part of that is 2017 reboot of the iconic web slinger.  There have been talks and rumors about who would be the writers for the upcoming film and it has finally been confirmed that the upcoming Vacation co-writers and co-directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein would be the writing team behind bringing Spidey back in his own feature.

This was revealed in an interview with the two of them from NPR about Vacation and when asked about Spider-Man they stated

We can finally acknowledge that,” said Daley. “This is the first time that we can say that we are writing it.” Goldstein then added, “We’ve been saying no comment for the last week” and that they are thrilled.

When asked about the humor in Spider-Man Daley responded:

He’s a sharp kid and witty and kind of deals with the fact that he’s an outcast and a geek through humor. It is sort of the safety net for geeks like us, so I think we can totally relate to where he’s coming from. As well as the superpowers, which we also have.

So it seems like they are excited to be a part of this universe and to bring their touch to this universe and to this character.  It is an interesting decision on the part of Marvel, but the comedic nature of their films will more than likely blend well with these two at the helm. In addition to Vacation they have also written for the Horrible Bosses films and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2.

Marvel’s Spider-Man will be released sometime in 2017.
