David Ayer has sure set the Internet ablaze with his comments before the premiere of Suicide Squad in New York. Before the screening of the new film, Ayer took to the stage and echoed that of a fan who had yelled out “F— Marvel!” Stan Lee is now getting in on the action.

Lee took to Twitter and wrote, “Hey @DavidAyerMovies – Don’t feel too bad about dropping the f bomb. It’s a compliment of the highest order!”

As previously reported, Chief Creative Officer at Marvel Entertainment Joe Quesada is supporting Ayer via Twitter. He asked fans to tone it down a bit with the comments and anger against Ayer.

It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Starring Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Karen Fukuhara, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood and Cara Delevingne, Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 5, 2016.
