‘Star Trek 4’ Set To Begin Production In Early 2019

Star Trek 4It’s time to revisit the final frontier. No, not Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, but rather, the Kelvin timeline films. Star Trek: Beyond came out in 2016, and while we’ve had Star Trek since then in the form of Star Trek: Discovery, it seems that we’re now headed back to the Kelvin films with the untitled Star Trek 4 film set to go into production not far from now.

According to That Hashtag Show, the upcoming Star Trek film, to be directed by S.J. Clarkson, will go into production in early 2019. This being a film in the Kelvin timeline, we’ll no doubt see the return of Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, John Cho, and the return of Chris Hemsworth in the role of George Kirk, who we last saw in the opening of the 2009 Star Trek film when he set the USS Kelvin on a collision course with the Narada. Well, at the very least, he was around long enough to name his newborn child.

Beyond this, though, plot details on Star Trek 4 are slim right now as the script is being developed, and it was recently reported that director S.J. Clarkson is seeking to add two female characters in prominent roles, one of them being the film’s main villain. Time will tell as the plot and details for the fourth installment develop.

What do you hope to see in the fourth Star Trek film? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more updates on the Star Trek universe.
