‘Star Trek: Discovery’: Sonequa Martin-Green’s Character Revealed

Sonequa Martin-Green Star Trek: Discovery
CBS has officially announced the name of Sonequa Martin-Green’s character in the upcoming Star Trek: Discovery series who was previously described as the Lieutenant Commander of the Discovery. Martin-Green will play First Officer Michael Burnham.

As Entertainment Weekly has pointed out, a Lieutenant Commander in the Trek-verse can also be the ship’s First Officer so it’s possible Burnham is both. CBS broke the news today as they tweeted out the announcement of Martin-Green’s characters name.

First Officer Michael Burnham will serve under the titular ship’s captain, Captain Lorca, played by Jason Isaacs. Martin-Green is just one part of the diverse cast of Star Trek: Discovery which also includes Michelle Yeoh as the first openly gay character on a series in the Star Trek franchise.

The series also James Frain as Spock’s father, Sarek, Doug Jones as a Starfleet Science Officer and a member of a new alien species, and Anthony Rapp as another crew member who’s character is described as an “astrobiologist, fungus expert, and Starfleet Science Officer.

Star Trek: Discovery will make its debut sometime in the late summer or early fall of 2017. Are you looking forward to the new series? Will you be subscribing to CBS All Access to watch? Let us know in the comments below.
