‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Adds New Cast Members

Star Trek DiscoveryStar Trek: Discovery has rounded out its cast with the addition of a few new members while also recasting a role. Shazad Latif (Penny Dreadful) who was previously announced to have joined the show as Commanding Officer Kol, will now be playing a totally different character. Latif is now set to play Lieutenant Tyler, who is described as a Starfleet officer in the Federation. The character of Kol is now going to be played by Kenneth Mitchell (Frequency).

Rekha Sharma (Battlestar Galactica) has joined the show as Commander Landry, security officer of the Starship Discovery. In addition to that, Clare McConnell (Dim the Fluorescents) and Damon Runyan (Degrassi: The Next Generation) have been tapped as Dennas and Ujilli, respectively, who are both leaders in the Klingon Empire.

Star Trek: Discovery, starring Sonequa Martin-Green as Michael Burnham, Terry Serpico as Anderson, Maulik Pancholy as Nambue, James Frain as Sarek, Doug Jones as Saru, Michelle Yeoh as Georgiou, Anthony Rapp as Stamets, Chris Obi as T’Kuvma, Shazad Latif as Lieutenant Tyler, Mary Chieffo as L’Rell, Jason Isaacs as Lorca, Mary Wiseman as Tilly, Rainn Wilson as Harry Mudd, Clare McConnell as Dennas, Damon Runyan as Ujilli and Kenneth Mitchell as Kol, is set to premiere on CBS All Access.

Guardians of the GalaxyGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is almost upon us, but we’re already talking about what’s next for our favorite ragtag group of cosmic heroes. It’s already been announced that writer/director James Gunn will return for a third outing in the Marvel franchise, with the upcoming sequel getting positive buzz on social media based from early screenings. Of course, the Guardians are also due to return for the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War films as well, teaming up with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes against Thanos as he gathers the Infinity Stones together to wield ultimate power.

Gunn commented on Facebook that the third film will “conclude the story of this iteration of the Guardians of the Galaxy, and help catapult both old and new Marvel characters into the next ten years and beyond.” While Phase 4 hasn’t been officially announced, it’s assumed that this third film will be Marvel Studios’ kick-off movie for their next batch of films, most likely eyeing a May 2020 release.

With a third Guardians of the Galaxy film on the horizon, where could they possibly go for the next movie? Although this iteration of the Guardians has only been around since 2008, there’s a lot of stories and characters that could be introduced.
