In Star Wars: A New Hope, Luke Skywalker runs into a less-than-welcoming cantina attendant named Dr. Cornelius Evazan, who randomly decides that he doesn’t like him and sics his friend Ponda Baba to attack him before Obi-Wan Kenobi intervenes. The actor who played Dr. Evazan just passed away, so Mark Hamill took to his Twitter page to say goodbye to an old friend.

Hamill explained that, in spite of his character’s aggressive and downright insane behavior, Alfie Curtis was an incredibly friendly individual who helped bring life to one of the most memorable scenes in the original Star Wars movie:

Mark Hamill’s eulogy comes right around the same time that he offered another farewell to Carrie Fisher, who portrayed his sister Leia Organa. It’s sad to see so many people that were part of an iconic movie go, but Hamill’s parting words are filled with grace and sincerity. They will be missed.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is now playing in theaters. The movie’s cast includes Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa, Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata, Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico, Laura Dern as Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke, Domhnall Gleeson as General Armitage Hux, Benicio Del Toro as “DJ”, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, and Jimmy Vee as R2-D2.
