‘Star Wars’: Woody Harrelson Says His Character In ‘Han Solo’ Is ‘Good At Heart’

Star Wars Han SoloWoody Harrelson has revealed that his character in the upcoming Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story while a criminal, is still good at heart.

Harrelson joined the project which is currently in production back in January. Shortly after he was asked about his involvement and whether or not he was playing Garris Shrike, a bounty hunter from the former expanded universe now known as legends who raised Han Solo and introduced him to the world of smuggling. While Harrelson nonchalantly said he was indeed Shrike in a moment where it seemed he would have answered yes to anything, it was later confirmed that his character was actually named Beckett.

Beckett has been described as a criminal and a mentor to Solo but in a recent chat with The Independent, Harrelson expressed his excitement to be involved with the Star Wars franchise as he revealed that his character — while corrupt — is still a good person:

“I am totally psyched to be making a Star Wars film. But the secrecy is on another level. What I can say he’s a good character, he is a mentor to Han and a criminal, but good at heart.”

The level of secrecy is one we can only imagine. Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke who has also boarded the project in a mysterious role recently stated that she is even more afraid to discuss the Han Solo film than she is the hit HBO series, another highly secretive production.

The Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story has been written by Lawrence Kasdan and son Jon Kasdan. The film is being directed by The Lego Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller and is currently slated for release on May 25, 2018. Alden Ehrenreich stars as the young Han Solo along with Joonas Suotomo as Chewbacca and Donald Glover as the young Lando Calrissian. The cast also includes Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Michael K. Williams, and Ian Kenny.

8 ‘Star Wars’ Spin-Off Movies We Really Want To See

Previous1 of 9

Star Wars-SagaMay the 4th be with you, everyone! Even on May the 8th! With Star Wars weekend in the rear-view mirror, it’s still a great time to kick back, get out your old glow-in-the-dark lightsaber toys and Darth Vader Halloween masks, and pop in those original trilogy DVDs. Maybe even all 8 currently-released films, if you’re up for the challenge (both mental and otherwise). Speaking of which, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story just came out on Blu-ray, marking the first home release of many Star Wars spin-off movies to come.

Of these, only one future title has been confirmed – Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, to be released in May of 2018. Beyond that, we know Disney had at least two more planned, and probably more down the line. And why not? The Star Wars universe is so ripe for exploration. There are so many characters we were introduced to in the Saga movies that could easily get their own film. And it doesn’t stop there. The legacy of the Jedi and the Sith go back thousands of years, opening up virtually endless possibilities of story material.

Given this abundance of material just waiting to be tapped into, Heroic Hollywood decided to celebrate the Star Wars holiday by compiling a list of the Star Wars stand-alone movies we’d most like to see. While some of the films on this list are more likely to be developed than others, they each share one unifying factor: they’d all be freakin’ awesome!
