Earlier today a rumor began floating around that Star Wars: The Force Awakens was heading to Ireland for re-shoots. This was caused by an Irish news outlet reporting that the studio would be returning to the location. Well, it seems that report was inaccurate and Lucasfilm has clarified to EW that they will not be shooting re-shoots but that Episode VIII will begin production later this month.
This is kind of crazy to think about being that The Force Awakens has not even hit theaters yet and Rogue One just began filming itself. Are we looking at an extended shoot for Rian Johnson’s upcoming film? And what exactly does it indicate that the film will be returning to a key location from the last film? Begin the speculation.
Star Wars Episode VIII hits theaters on May 26, 2017.
