Upon learning that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story would center on the band of rebel spies who successfully stole plans to the Death Star before A New Hope, fans began to wonder if classic Rebel Leaders such as Bail Organa or Mon Mothma would appear in the film. While Mon Mothma’s involvement was confirmed relatively early, it was not until last summer when fans learned that Jimmy Smits would also be returning as Bail Organa in the first Star Wars standalone film. Now, US Weekly‘s special Rogue One edition features our first look at Smits in the role since he last appeared in Revenge of the Sith.
Though Smits has confirmed that the role will only be a cameo, he did comment on how Bail Organa has changed since fans last saw him over ten years ago.
“[His garb] isn’t as stately as in the other episodes, […] he isn’t as high up the political food chain.”
