‘Star Wars: Forces Of Destiny’ Returns With Two New Shorts

Star Wars Forces of Destiny
Lucasfilm has released the ninth and tenth episodes of their 2-D animated female-led series of shorts Star Wars: Forces of Destiny.

Star Wars: Forces of Destiny is comprised of a series of shorts that highlight the female heroes of the Star Wars galaxy as the series explores everyday heroism, and crossing era-specific characters over with one another. The series features mini-adventures with heroines such as Rey, Jyn Erso, Ahsoka Tano, Hera Syndulla, Sabine Wren, Padmé Amidala, Maz Kanata, and Princess Leia.

As part of last night’s Star Wars: Forces of Destiny television special, Lucasfilm released a pair of new shorts set in radically different eras. The first of these shorts – entitled “Newest Recruit” – is set around the time of Star Wars Rebels. The episode follows Ketsu Onyo’s decision to join her friend Sabine Wren in fighting for the Rebel Cell known as Phoenix Squadron. In it, Onyo and Wren find out that what was initially a routine food-smuggling operation turned out to be much more than they bargained for. Gina Torres and Tiya Sircar reprise their resepective roles from the animated series.

The second of these shorts – entitled “Tracker Trouble” – is set during the events of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. While en route to Takodana, the Millennium Falcon is taken out of hyperspace due to the presence of some previously-unseen tracking device. It’s up to Rey, Finn, and Chewbacca to find the tracker and dispose of it. Daisy Ridley reprises her role as Rey.

Star Wars Forces of Destiny features the voice cast of Daisy Ridley as Rey, Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, Tiya Sircar as Sabine Wren, Ashley Eckstein as Ahsoka Tano, Vanessa Marshall as Hera Syndulla, Shelby Young as Princess Leia, Catherine Taber as Padmé Amidala, Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata, and Gina Torres as Ketsu Onyo.
