Star Wars: The Last Jedi is on the way, which means another massive marketing push will precede it. Toys, posters, and other collectibles have already been released. But Domhnall Gleeson is missing from most of the fun. The actor had a chance to talk about why he thinks General Hux hasn’t been part of the marketing campaign for the upcoming Star Wars movie
Gleeson sat down with Screen Rant to discuss his upcoming movie American Made, which will star Tom Cruise. During the interview, he explained that General Hux isn’t a prominent enough character to be featured heavily in the marketing:
“I don’t think there was much out about me for the first one either. I’m not one of the bigger characters – Adam, Oscar, Daisy and John are up front and then it’s a big line of people ahead of me on the call sheet, so I certainly don’t take it personally. I think they know how to market Star Wars, so I’ll leave them to it.”
General Hux had a decent sized role in the marketing for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but much like Captain Phasma, he was used sparingly in the actual film. His comments perhaps hint that his moderate screen time might not change. Still, the character will no doubt be joining Kylo Ren and the rest of the First Order forces in a fight against the Luke Skywalker, Rey, Poe, and Finn.
The film stars Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa, Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata, Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico, Laura Dern as Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke, Domhnall Gleeson as General Armitage Hux, Benicio Del Toro as “DJ”, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, and Jimmy Vee as R2-D2.
