Star Wars: The Last Jedi news keeps on a-rollin’, and among the hundreds of reactions and theories just birthing from the official trailer alone, we have a bit more info about the elusive villain Supreme Leader Snoke, played by Andy Serkis.
In a phone interview with IGN, Serkis, promoting his directorial debut Breathe, was pushed and pushed to answer several questions regarding Snoke, but remained appropriately tight-lipped. The actor in previous interviews has said that we won’t find out exactly who Snoke is in The Last Jedi, but in this interview when asked about if he the actor knows, he responded with:
Oh yeah, absolutely I know it.
Of course this does not say much, but at least it proves that people other than Kathleen Kennedy, Rian Johnson, J.J. Abrams and the higher-ups at Lucasfilm have an idea. I mean, who knows how many of the The Last Jedi cast actually know who Snoke is? Perhaps its a mystery to them as much as it is to us.
The interview did focus more on what Serkis thought about the recently released trailer and what he thinks about Rian Johnson as director, saying below that:
I thought the trailer was spectacular, and very intense. It absolutely reflects the tone and the feel of the movie…I do think this movie is going to really surprise people with its plotline and story and its tension in it. Working with Rian, he’s again, a fine, fine director. He totally owned this world, and he’s a great actor’s director too…he’s really inspiring, I loved spending time with him on set, and I think he’s come up with an amazing movie.
It is always lovely to hear actors praise their directors, and that is exactly what everyone working on The Last Jedi has said, but coming from an actor like Serkis who knows a thing or two about capturing performances, this means a whole heap more. Feel free to comment all your crazy, incorrect Snoke theories below.
