‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’: New Chinese Trailer & Poster Released

Chinese Last Jedi Star Wars Rey Luke Skywalker Kylo Ren Trailer PosterA new trailer for this month’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi has just been released, alongside a new poster that puts Rey at the centre of the action.

The new trailer was released for the Chinese market, where the film will release in early January 2018. The trailer offers a brief recap of where 2015’s The Force Awakens left Daisy Ridley’s Rey and Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren. As with other trailers, the focus appears to be on both young Force users struggling with the paths they have chosen. As Rey turns to Kylo for help, audiences are left to wonder whether the two might be set to forge a new path together. Could this signal a turn to the Dark Side for Rey? A turn to the light for Kylo Ren? Or are both set to revise their relationship to the Force?

You can watch the new trailer below:

The newly released poster is similar to the film’s main poster, which showed Luke overlooking his new and former apprentices above a line-up of the film’s other characters. This time, however, it is Rey who is given the most prominent spot on the poster. This perhaps signals her feeling trapped between Luke and Kylo and their two very different attitudes towards the Force. The new poster also includes the addition of the Millenium Falcon, a few X-Wings and a Porg perched on Chewbacca’s shoulder.

5 Ways ‘The Last Jedi’ Links To Greater ‘Star Wars’ Canon

Star Wars The Last JediStar Wars: The Last Jedi is right around the corner. The film is the next chapter in the ongoing Skywalker saga. It’s also unique in the Star Wars films as it is the first one to be an immediate sequel to its predecessor. But that does not mean there won’t be plenty of Easter eggs for fans of the greater Star Wars canon to pick up on and enjoy.

One of the biggest criticisms about the previous Star Wars canon, now dubbed Legends, is that ancillary material never connected. Since Disney has taken over and the establishment of the Star Wars Story Group, that has all changed. The modus operandi has been to have everything connect but not in an intrusive way– one that feels more natural to reward the more hardcore fans as well as to intrigue new fans.
