With three months away from Star Wars: The Last Jedi being released, the marketing train is in full swing, with the 8th Star Wars episode taking the cover of Empire Magazine’s October issue.
The issue contains brand new images from the hugely-anticipated sequel to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, including the one below showing John Boyega’s Finn and Kelly Marie Tran’s Rose together in the casino city of Canto Bight on the planet Cantonica.
The scene takes place halfway through the movie, boasting some more intricate Neal Scanlan creature effects, and involves the two Resistance fighters dealing with the casino’s high rollers. But that’s all the information given, so no spoilers here unless you want to grab a copy of the Empire issue to find out more.
Writer-director of The Last Jedi Rian Johnson gave information about how he used the casino scenes, and some prequel callbacks too:
“I wanted a new environment that was like dunking your head in a cool bath of water, right in the middle of the movie. Apart from the prequels, all the touchstones that make something feel like Star Wars have to do with griminess and dirt. I wanted to do something completely different.”
The film also stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Anthony Daniels, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern, Lupita Nyong’o and Andy Serkis.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is in US cinemas December 15.

8 ‘Star Wars’ Spin-Off Movies We Really Want To See
May the 4th be with you, everyone! Even on May the 8th! With Star Wars weekend in the rear-view mirror, it’s still a great time to kick back, get out your old glow-in-the-dark lightsaber toys and Darth Vader Halloween masks, and pop in those original trilogy DVDs. Maybe even all 8 currently-released films, if you’re up for the challenge (both mental and otherwise). Speaking of which, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story just came out on Blu-ray, marking the first home release of many Star Wars spin-off movies to come.
Of these, only one future title has been confirmed – Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, to be released in May of 2018. Beyond that, we know Disney had at least two more planned, and probably more down the line. And why not? The Star Wars universe is so ripe for exploration. There are so many characters we were introduced to in the Saga movies that could easily get their own film. And it doesn’t stop there. The legacy of the Jedi and the Sith go back thousands of years, opening up virtually endless possibilities of story material.
Given this abundance of material just waiting to be tapped into, Heroic Hollywood decided to celebrate the Star Wars holiday by compiling a list of the Star Wars stand-alone movies we’d most like to see. While some of the films on this list are more likely to be developed than others, they each share one unifying factor: they’d all be freakin’ awesome!
