‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’: IMAX Poster Features More Red & More Rey

Star Wars Last Jedi Daisy Ridley Rey IMAX PosterWe are now just four weeks short weeks away from the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi and to make the wait just a little more bearable, a brand new IMAX poster for the film has just been released.

The look of the poster is quite similar to the theatrical poster that was unveiled last month, with some notable composition changes and different character images used. For one, this new poster does not include any ignited lightsabers, though Rey is definitely holding one in her hand.

Previous posters have featured an ominous-looking Luke Skywalker looming over the other characters with his hood up, leading some fans to question whether the galaxy’s lost hero falls on the side of good, evil or somewhere in the middle. Here, Luke’s hood is drawn down and he definitively appears to be on the side of our heroes.

Fans are also worried about which side Rey will be on by the end of the film, and her placement on the poster caught between the dark and light, along with her bright red cloak, just gives us even more to speculate about until the film comes out.

Rian Johnson’s Star Wars film is expected to be one of the franchise’s darkest installments yet, and the prominent use of red in all of the posters suggests that this will indeed be the case.

5 Ways ‘The Last Jedi’ Links To Greater ‘Star Wars’ Canon

Star Wars The Last JediStar Wars: The Last Jedi is right around the corner. The film is the next chapter in the ongoing Skywalker saga. It’s also unique in the Star Wars films as it is the first one to be an immediate sequel to its predecessor. But that does not mean there won’t be plenty of Easter eggs for fans of the greater Star Wars canon to pick up on and enjoy.

One of the biggest criticisms about the previous Star Wars canon, now dubbed Legends, is that ancillary material never connected. Since Disney has taken over and the establishment of the Star Wars Story Group, that has all changed. The modus operandi has been to have everything connect but not in an intrusive way– one that feels more natural to reward the more hardcore fans as well as to intrigue new fans.
