‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Director Says Fans May Want To Wait On Trailer

Star Wars Rian JohnsonStar Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson is really excited to share the big trailer for his film, but he also tells fans who want to go into the movie clean might want to wait to watch it until after the movie comes out.

Johnson has encouraged fans – alongside lead actor Mark Hamill – to consider avoiding looking for any Star Wars: The Last Jedi media before seeing the movie, but he also recognizes that the fans have been patient and deserve a new trailer to tide them over. Here, he voices that, like Kylo Ren, he’s feeling torn apart about what he’s about to do:

However, he also implied that the trailer itself is not spoiler-heavy, as he responded to Entertainment Weekly’s report on his tweet by saying that he’s encouraging fans to see everything in the movie for the first time as opposed to suggesting that the trailer gives everything away:

In any case, it’s likely that a lot of Star Wars fans will rush in to see the trailer immediately while others will have to test their resolve to see if they can go without watching anything.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will rise on December 15, 2017. The movie’s cast includes Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa, Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata, Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico, Laura Dern as Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke, Domhnall Gleeson as General Armitage Hux, Benicio Del Toro as “DJ”, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, and Jimmy Vee as R2-D2.
