In addition to the engaging characters and stunning visuals, the Star Wars films are never short of cameo appearances for eagle-eyed fans to uncover. In an interview with BBC Radio4, star John Boyega confirmed that Star Wars: The Last Jedi will feature cameo appearances by Prince William, Prince Harry, and Dunkirk star Tom Hardy.
Boyega confirmed their roles after being asked if the Royals were given lines during their cameo appearance:
“I think they took that scene out. I’ve had enough with those secrets [laughs]. They came on set. They were there. I’m sick of hiding it. I think it was leaked, anyway. There were images. Every time I get asked, I have to dodge it. I’m tired of dodging it. They were there. So was Tom Hardy.”
Earlier this year, it was reported that Princes William and Harry had visited the Pinewood Studios set and sources close to the project claimed the Royals filmed cameos as stormtroopers. Director Rian Johnson had previously teased the possibility of a cameo appearance by the Princes, though Boyega is the first to directly confirm their presence in the film.
Written and directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: The Last Jedi stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Laura Dern, Kelly Marie Tran and Benicio del Toro.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be released in theaters on December 15, 2017.
8 ‘Star Wars’ Spin-Off Movies We Really Want To See
May the 4th be with you, everyone! Even on May the 8th! With Star Wars weekend in the rear-view mirror, it’s still a great time to kick back, get out your old glow-in-the-dark lightsaber toys and Darth Vader Halloween masks, and pop in those original trilogy DVDs. Maybe even all 8 currently-released films, if you’re up for the challenge (both mental and otherwise). Speaking of which, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story just came out on Blu-ray, marking the first home release of many Star Wars spin-off movies to come.
Of these, only one future title has been confirmed – Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, to be released in May of 2018. Beyond that, we know Disney had at least two more planned, and probably more down the line. And why not? The Star Wars universe is so ripe for exploration. There are so many characters we were introduced to in the Saga movies that could easily get their own film. And it doesn’t stop there. The legacy of the Jedi and the Sith go back thousands of years, opening up virtually endless possibilities of story material.
Given this abundance of material just waiting to be tapped into, Heroic Hollywood decided to celebrate the Star Wars holiday by compiling a list of the Star Wars stand-alone movies we’d most like to see. While some of the films on this list are more likely to be developed than others, they each share one unifying factor: they’d all be freakin’ awesome!
