With Disney-era of Star Wars in full swing, standalone adventures under the moniker of Star Wars Stories will be stray from the iconic Skywalker saga consisting of the prequel trilogy (I-III), the original trilogy (IV-VI) and the current sequel trilogy (VII-IX). Although the new trilogy continues the Skywalker saga, some fans are interested in the idea of exploring more stories with young Luke Skywalker with Sebastian Stan playing the iconic Jedi.
The fan-casting of Stan as young Luke became popular among fans online after a photo morphing Stan’s likeness with Mark Hamill’s young likeness showcased the striking resemblance Stan shares with Hamill. Both Stan and Hamill have acknowledged this fact, even referencing the resemblance on Good Morning America recently.
While promoting his new film I, Tonya during MTV’s After Hours, Stan was tasked to record his own faux audition tape to play young Luke. As a result, we see a funny little video of Stan reading some of Luke’s classic lines. You can see the faux audition tape down below.
Whether or not Lucasfilm plans on exploring more adventures with Luke set during the original trilogy timeline is currently unknown, but Alden Ehrenreich is already stepping into Harrison Ford’s footsteps as Han Solo while Donald Glover is doing the same for Billy Dee Williams’ Lando Calrissian for Solo: A Star Wars Story. So if those two iconic characters can return with new actors to portray the younger versions, it should not be much of a stretch for Stan to potentially step into the role.
Meanwhile, we will be reuniting with an older Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Here is the synopsis:
