‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Closing In On $2 Billion Worldwide

In less than two months after its release, J.J. Abram’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens is already close to crossing the $2 billion mark globally and it should be able to accomplish that feat by the end of the week. The movie brought in $10.8 million at the North American box office over the weekend for a domestic tally of $895.4 million. Meanwhile, The Force Awakens also grossed $12.6 million overseas for a worldwide total of $1.983 billion. However, the movie probably won’t surpass Titanic, which means that it’s likely going to finish its box office run as the third highest grossing movie of all-time.

Many fans expected that this would be the movie that would finally dethrone James Cameron’s Avatar, but it seems that this isn’t happening anytime soon. Nonetheless, The Force Awakens still did exceptionally well, so don’t worry, it’s definitely getting more than a few sequels. How many times have you seen the movie?
