Yesterday, it was announced that a special Star Wars marathon event would precede the initial screenings of Star Wars: The Force Awakens across several different theater chains. This event would include all six previously released Star Wars films, exclusive screenings, Star Wars parties and giveaways of collectible merchandise depending on which theater you attend.
AMC Theatres is getting in on the fun and plans to give movie-goers who purchase an IMAX 3D ticket to Star Wars: The Force Awakens an exclusive poster print from artist Dan Mumford. The theater chain will give these posters out every Sunday from December 20 to January 10. A new poster will be unveiled each week with the below image being the first available piece of artwork.
Mumford’s poster appears to depict Daisy Ridley’s Rey in the battlefield graveyards of Jakku. Next to her is everyone’s favorite new droid, BB-8, as the pair look upon the distinct remains of an X-Wing fighter and an Imperial battle cruiser.
The Battle of Jakku, according to Wookieepedia, is said to have taken place roughly one year after the Battle of Endor between the New Republic forces and the remains of the Galactic Empire. The aftermath of the battle is strewn about Jakku’s surface, leaving you with little doubt as to why Rey is known as a “scavenger.”
Tickets are selling fast for Star Wars: The Force Awakens so if you want one of these posters, you better order them soon.
