‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Soaring Past Record Held By ‘Spider-Man 2’ Since 2004

Looks like you can add one more to the list of of acheivements for J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It’s being reported that the film is looking to earn roughly $30 million today, which will set a new record for the highest Monday for any film to date. The previous record has been held since 2004 by Spider-Man 2, which made $27.7 million on the Monday following it’s release.

Only two other film’s have come close since then with Indiana Jones And The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull & Jurassic World bringing in $26.8 million and $25.8 million respectively. At this rate, could The Force Awakens be the film to dethrone Avatar from it’s top spot? I know it’s getting some more of my money later this week. Will you be seeing it again? Let us know in the comments section below.
