‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Has Grossed $1.54 Billion Worldwide

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Star Wars: The Force Awakens grossed $8 million domestically on Monday for a domestic haul of $750.2 million, and its now on course to surpass Avatar at the North American box office on Wednesday. Overseas, the movie raked in $14.5 million for a worldwide total of $1.54 billion to become the 4th highest-grossing film of all time globally, surpassing Furious 7 ($1.515B) and The Avengers ($1.529B). According to The Hollywood Reporter, J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens brought in $88.3 million at the North American box office over the weekend for a domestic total of $740.3 million. Overseas, the movie grossed $96.3 million for a worldwide haul of $1.51 billion. Star Wars: The Force Awakens should become the highest-grossing film of all time domestically by Wednesday, which means that it will accomplish that goal in less than 3 weeks of release.
