Stephen Amell Teases Talia Al Ghul’s Purpose On ‘Arrow’

The al Ghul’s have a complicated history with Oliver Queen and as both Ra’s and Nyssa have made large impacts on the Arrowverse. Now, it is Talia’s turn to make her mark on Arrow, as it was revealed recently that she would be coming to the show’s 5th season.

Talia is Nyssa’s half-sister, who up until now was largely avoided during Ra’s al Ghul’s season 3 storyline.  So far, her only apperance in the Arrowverse has been as a child on Legends of Tomorrow.

The character of Talia is probably best known for being one of the villains, along with Bane, in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. Prior to this season, it was largely thought that she was off limits for the CW shows to use, but as it turns out that is not the case.

TVLine spoke with Arrow star Stephen Amell, and asked him if there were any nuggets of information he could reveal about Talia’s role in the superhero drama. Although his words were vague, he did give some new information on when we would be seeing the third al Ghul and what her purpose is on the show.

“We learn about Talia before we meet her — and she is, I think, our gateway to really accelerating the flashback storyline.”

I am pleasantly surprised that we will learn about Talia in the flashbacks of all places. As it turns out, there really is no limit to what Oliver could be hiding from his team. All before season 1 he’s encountered mirakuru and Sara Lance, Constantine and magic, and now we learn he’s also already crossed paths with Talia al Ghul. It’s definitely interesting that Talia will be featured in the flashbacks, but makes me wonder if we will also see her in present day at any point.
