Even though he was just cast in Black Panther, Sterling K. Brown is looking to further expand his superhero roots. After today’s announcement confirming John Stewart as a main character in Green Lantern Corps, Brown wishes to play the hero.
Brown took his wish to Twitter to announce his name for consideration.
“Dear powers that be, if you are looking for someone to play John Stewart, I humbly submit my name. Namaste.”

It’d be somewhat unlikely, granted nowhere near impossible, to make a Marvel/DC flip in such close proximity though. But if Brown’s character in Black Panther is a smaller role, he’d have a better chance. Several characters with small roles in one universe have made larger appearances in the other, including Killer Croc.
No word on who would play Hal Jordan yet, but I’d almost gaurantee Ryan Reynolds won’t be reprising the role. It looks like Jordan and Stewart will be the only earthbound Green Lanterns in the film however.
It was also announced earlier today that David S. Goyer and Justin Rhodes would be penning the Green Lantern Corps script. Goyer will also be producing alongside Geoff Johns.
Green Lantern Corps is projected for release on July 24, 2020.
