‘Stranger Things 2’: Duffer Brothers Tease The Larger Scope

Stranger Things 2Although the series became an instant cultural phenomenon for Netflix, Stranger Things seems to follow a more cinematic landscape in its narrative structure. The highly anticipated second season is officially known as Stranger Things 2, and given the Duffer Brothers’ ambitions to further explore the otherworldly circumstances in Hawkins, Indiana, the show can only expand to a larger scope as it progresses.

When we last left the citizens of Hawkins, we see that poor Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) is still having flashbacks to the Upside Down despite being rescued from it. Stranger Things 2 will explore Will’s dilemma as well as how Hawkins experiences otherworldly threats even more terrifying than they ever imagined.

Matt and Ross Duffer recently discussed how the upcoming season will feature more great character moments as well as how they all embark on an adventure that’s perhaps even stranger than they did the year before:

Ross: “The nice thing is we don’t have a kid disappearing in the first 10 minutes, so everybody’s not always turned up to 11 trying to save their friends. It allows us to experience these characters more in their normal life for a bit, and have some fun with them. But then once things go wrong, we really escalate the stakes quickly, and it gets pretty crazy toward the end.”

Matt: “We’re movie guys, and from the very beginning we thought of it as a sequel more than a television Season 2. That’s why it’s Stranger Things 2. It’s building off a lot of the ideas we established in Season 1, but it’s introducing new threats, new stakes and the idea is to resolve that more or less by the end of the season.”

Stranger Things 2 stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, and Noah Schnapp. In addition to Astin, the series has also added Paul Reiser (Aliens), Brett Gelman (Jobs), Dacre Montgomery (Power Rangers), Danish actress Linnea Berthelsen, and Broadway star Sadie Sink into the mix as well. Here’s the official synopsis:

It’s 1984 and the citizens of Hawkins, Indiana are still reeling from the horrors of the Demogorgon and the secrets of Hawkins Lab. Will Byers has been rescued from the Upside Down but a bigger, sinister entity still threatens those who survived.

Stranger Things 2 hits Netflix October 27, 2017. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the next season of Stranger Things as we learn it.
