‘Stranger Things’ Actor David Harbour Reveals His Humbling Season 2 Story Arc

Stranger Things David HarbourSo what happens after you get to be the hero? That’s the answer that the story of Chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour) will answer with the second season of Stranger Things – and from the sound of things, it’s pretty far from the happy ending Hopper might have imagined.

MTV recently got an opportunity to speak with David Harbour at the San Diego Comic Con, and while they were there they asked him if he could reveal anything about his character this season. Harbor explained that there are drawbacks to being a hero that he’s discovered after the fact:

“You have this story of this guy who’s dead inside, who’s kind of a jerk, who goes on this amazing heroic journey… You gotta go alright, it’s a year later, and one of the most subtle, interesting arcs of this season to me is what happens to a person when they take a heroic action and they become somewhat of a superhero and what that does to their ego and what it does to their sense of control issues and what it does to maybe where they feel like they start to overextend themselves and they have to check their ego or be humbled again. That’s a humiliating thing for Hopper to feel, but it’s a very human thing.”

From the sound of things, one of Hopper’s biggest challenges might not be having to confront the supernatural phenomena that are affecting the town of Hawkins, Indiana – it may be having to learn to live with himself. MTV’s full interview with Harbour can be seen below:
