‘Stranger Things’: The Duffer Brothers Tease The Cliffhanger In Season 2

Stranger Things Trailer Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer are teasing the second season finale will include a cliffhanger but not without also resolving the main tension of the series’ plot which finds the characters of Hawkins, Indiana facing a greater threat as the world itself is now turning upside down.

With just over six weeks to go, the anticipation for the sequel season to Netflix’s smash hit series about the mysterious disappearance of a young boy is at an all-time high. The Duffer Brothers were in attendance at the 2017 Emmy Awards last night, for which they managed to earn a total of 18 nominations. The brothers spoke with TV Line on the red carpet when they were asked about the cliffhanger in season two — previously revealed by Gaten Matarazzo — when Ross confirmed that much like the end of season one, the cliffhanger at the end of season two will lay some groundwork for future seasons of the ’80s homage:

“It wraps up very nicely I think… people will feel satisfied. There’s a hint of what is to come.”

When asked to rate the cliffhanger on a scale from one to ten, Matt teased fans can expect a “seven”. While the show plans to wrap up neatly like a film would, we know that the creators had plenty of ideas that didn’t fit into the second season and it’s possible these ideas could be teased throughout the new season. It has also been confirmed (spoiler alert) that the giant spider monster seen in the trailer will go on to become the series’ ultimate big bad.

Stranger Things 2 stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, and Noah Schnapp. In addition to Astin, the series has also added Paul Reiser (Aliens), Brett Gelman (Jobs), Dacre Montgomery (Power Rangers), Danish actress Linnea Berthelsen, and Broadway star Sadie Sink into the mix as well. Here’s the official synopsis:

It’s 1984 and the citizens of Hawkins, Indiana are still reeling from the horrors of the Demogorgon and the secrets of Hawkins Lab. Will Byers has been rescued from the Upside Down but a bigger, sinister entity still threatens those who survived.

Stranger Things 2 hits Netflix October 27, 2017. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the next season of Stranger Things as we learn it.
