The highly-anticipated third season of Netflix’s cultural phenomenon Stranger Things is currently in production. Although no official release date has been revealed yet, Netflix recently began their marketing campaign for season 3 with a brand new “commercial” for the newly-opened mall in Hawkins, Indiana where Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) and new character Robin (Maya Hawke) work together at the food court.
Steve and Robin specifically work at the Scoop Ahoy ice cream shop in the summer of 1985. In honor of the release of the recent commercial, Maya Hawke shared a selfie with Joe Keery from the same set:
Netflix has described Hawke’s Robin as an “alternative girl”, who will certainly bring some angst and an interesting dynamic to the series – particularly within Steve’s life as new events occur within the unlucky town of Hawkins, Indiana in the summer of 1985.
Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Noah Schnapp, Cara Buono, Dacre Montgomery, and Sadie Sink have all been confirmed to return for the next season. Season three also includes new characters played by Cary Elwes, Jake Busey and Maya Hawke, among others.
Plot are being kept under wraps, but fans can expect another time jump when Stranger Things continues, picking up with its young characters in the summer of 1985. The next season also gives Will Byers (Schnapp) a bit of a break as it introduces new forces of evil into the series.
Created by the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things seasons one and two are now available to stream on Netflix. Keep an eye on Heroic Hollywood as more details on this project come out.
