‘Suicide Squad’ Blu-Ray Clip Explains Jared Leto’s Method Acting As The Joker

Suicide Squad

The release of ‘Suicide Squad’ on Blu-Ray and DVD is edging ever closer, and now a clip from the Blu-Ray edition of the film goes a little more in-depth about Jared Leto’s performance as The Joker. Watch the clip from Collider right here.

Regardless of the opinions of the latest DC Extended Universe film, it’s hard to deny that Leto’s approach to the role was impressive. In the clip, Leto speaks about the questions he wanted answering when stepping into The Joker’s shoes.

“This role has always been interpreted so beautifully, but then there’s the other side: What else can you uncover? What other parts of this story or this life, what can you do that hasn’t been done? That side of me that likes exploration, that likes adventure, that likes to push the envelope, that was set on fire immediately. I knew that I was going to have to dive really deep and go to a place that I’ve never gone before.”

He certainly approached the role from all angles, and his method acting brought a considerable amount of attention towards ‘Suicide Squad’. David Ayer also had plenty to say about the creative process leading up to his performance, and how he morphed his personality into that of The Joker.

“So during the process of figuring out the Joker and helping Jared create that character, I kinda had to say goodbye to Jared. There was a point when he went away and was replaced slowly and surely by the Joker. It was a fascinating process to watch. There was this really nice guy, a good guy with a lot of depth to him, he’s a very thoughtful person … the Joker is not someone you’d say is a really good guy.”

‘Suicide Squad’ comes to Blu-Ray and DVD on December 13th.
