Fans who followed the production of Suicide Squad are all too aware of the reports asserting that method actor Jared Leto sent his co-stars unexpected and unwanted gifts such as used condoms. During a recent interview with EW Radio Spotlight, Leto denied claims that he sent his castmates used condoms and clarified the intent behind the unusual gifts.
Leto stated that “most” reports on his on-set antics were “bullsh***”:
“I mean, I just think that there were some things that, you know, that were mentioned about like gifts and the fact that I was giving used condoms to people, which was not true. It was not true. And what are you going to do at that moment? It doesn’t matter how loud you shout or hold up a sign with your pants off in Times Square. People are gonna go with the story that they want to run.”
Leto admitted that he gave odd wrap gifts to his co-stars, including a plus 60 porno magazine, though he states that the presents were well-received by Suicide Squad cast:
“On set, we were all laughing and people were thrilled to [get] them. Whatever the Joker would give, was the idea. I didn’t really even put them together, basically. It was my team and my assistant. We were all having fun with it. It was really touching.”
“To see it kind of taken and manipulated… taken out of context and to be made this really horrid thing and ended up [having] people speak about like it was offensive when it was anything but. It was in good fun and light-hearted and everything that it should have been.”
Jared Leto is set to return as The Joker in Suicide Squad 2 and Gotham City Sirens.

10 Reasons Jared Leto Is The Worst Joker
The Joker is one of the most iconic characters in fiction. His bombastic schemes, twisted behavior and eerie laugh are the things nightmares are made from. Amazing actors like Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger have brought the Joker to life over the years, and he will continue to grace the big and small screen for years to come.
Jared Leto is another amazing actor who’s been lucky enough to play the Joker. The actor, who’s set to star in the upcoming Blade Runner 2049, was dealt a poor script in Suicide Squad and wasn’t given a chance to properly shine. Certain aspects of his character were enjoyable, and hopefully he will be better in future renditions, but for now, Leto is considered a disappointment. No matter how far the actor pushed himself to get into character, things just didn’t click for him this time around.
