While the film saw a bit steeper of a decline than many were expecting before the weekend, Suicide Squad held on to the top spot at the domestic box office this weekend with an esitmated $43.8M. The film saw a 79% decline on Friday but ticket sales spiked back up on Saturday (-54%) and Sunday (-58%) despite losing a good chunk of business to Sony’s Sausage Party and The Olympics. While the decline was less than that of Batman v Superman (69%), it did end up with a 67% drop for the total weekend.
Overseas though, the film saw a much smaller drop (56%) and added another $58.7M in 62 total markets. These numbers bring the film’s global cume to a solid $465.4M. Following some solid midweek numbers, the film has exceeded the entire runs of Guardians Of The Galaxy in Mexico & Korea, as well as Batman v Superman in Russia. Stay tuned for further updates as the film will be adding the markets of Germany, Austria, Greece and Japan in the coming weeks ahead.
