Suicide Squad has been tracking to open massively in the United States and the movie is already 40% ahead of August record holder Guardians of the Galaxy when it comes to movie ticket sales on Movietickets.com. Guardians was released over two years ago.

Despite its mixed  reviews, Suicide Squad remains the most anticipated movie of the summer and is currently targeting an opening between $130 million to $140 million. The Wrap is reporting that Squad has already become the top pre-seller on Fandango for August. This tops James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy and F. Gary Gray’s Straight Outta Compton.

It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Starring Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Karen Fukuhara, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood and Cara Delevingne, Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 5, 2016.

Interesting. Suicide Squad is seemingly bulletproof. I can’t wait to see the film. Many people whose opinion I respect have enjoyed the film. Only one didn’t like it. Can’t win ’em all.

How is it bullet proof? These are just projections, they aren’t always right. The poor review will absolutely affect the box office take. I don’t see how it beats GOTG in final worldwide box office gross.

This is great news, HOWEVER, I don’t want the DCEU to slog along like Pirates of the Caribbean and Transformers, where the movies get trashed repeatedly by critics but continue to make boatloads of money. I’d like the DCEU to command some level of actual respect for more than ticket sales.

Could care less what the critics or box office does. I loved MoS and BvS. If they keep making movies as good as those, keep the 20% rotten tomatoes coming.
Off to see SS tomorrow evening. Hoping I like it. Sadly I heard the story is very elementary, and that has me worried. Best part of MoS and BvS is the depth of those movies.

Yeah, their “DEPTH” was downright coma-inducing.

I will be seeing “Suicide Squad” this weekend, and I hope it does well at the box office, because I want to see more superhero/supervillian movies. At this point, my distrust in media film critics is huge, and I am eager to make up my own mind.
