When James Olsen enlisted the help of Winn to create a suit designed to help him fight crime, Winn was initially reluctant but later acquiesced, providing an armored suit that James would use to become a hero named The Guardian. While James’ first outing as a superhero had him join forces with Supergirl against the Parasite, the new hero declined to reveal his identity to the last daughter of Krypton. Speaking to EW, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg discussed whether or not Kara will learn that The Guardian is actually her friend Jimmy Olsen.
Kreisberg did not provide a concrete answer to if or when Kara will uncover James’ secret, though he did explain that more than one character will learn the truth over the course of the season.
“It’s a little bit like when Chandler and Monica started dating [on Friends], every episode somebody else found out and they had a surprising reaction. Not everybody is going to find out at once. Some people are going to be supportive; who’s supportive is going to be surprising. Some people are going to be incredibly unsupportive thinking James and Winn have lost their minds; their identities will be interesting.”
It seems unlikely that Kara wouldn’t be one of those characters who discovers James’ secret, but her reaction may be a surprise to some viewers. Do you think Kara will support James or do you think she will disapprove of her friends new hobby? Share your thoughts below!
Now, in Season Two, Kara has left the safety of being Cat Grant’s assistant in order to figure out what she really wants to do, while as Supergirl she continues to work at the DEO., protecting the citizens of National City and searching for Jeremiah and Cadmus. Along the way, she will team up with Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) to battle new villains, as she strives to balance her personal life with her life as a superhero.
Supergirl airs on Monday at 8:00 pm ET on The CW.
