‘Supergirl’ Clip Introduces Parasite

Supergirl

A brand new clip from the next episode of ‘Supergirl’ teases the DC Comics villain ‘Parasite’. Watch the clip below.

The first noticeable thing about the clip is how much darker and grittier the tone is compared to most episodes of ‘Supergirl‘. Although we don’t see the hulking purple character from the comics in the clip, we do see a lot of dead bodies, presumably infected by the villain. In fact, it feels a little closer to something like John Carpenter’s ‘The Thing’ rather than a show from The CW. Is it an intentional homage to the brilliant horror classic? Afterall, there is a logo on the wall with the word ‘Arctic’ clearly visible amongst the blood splatter. We even see a dog on an operating table, presumably after it’s been infected by ‘Parasite’. This darker tone may not be a bad thing. It proves the writers aren’t afraid to explore new territories on the show. The episode will also feature the debut of Guardian, A.K.A. James Olsen.

“THE GUARDIAN DEBUTS IN NATIONAL CITY – The Guardian debuts to lend a hand after a parasite alien drains Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) of her power. Mon-El (Chris Wood) considers a less than desirable new career which then leads him to contemplate his motives. Alex (Chyler Leigh) struggles with a new reality.”

‘Supergirl’ airs on Monday at 8PM on The CW.
