As the TV season is getting closer to its end, we are getting closer to concluding the current seasons of the DC Comics TV shows Supergirl, Gotham, The Flash and Arrow. Today TV Line released a major preview for upcoming finales of various TV shows, including the DC TV ones.
First up is Supergirl, that is set to air its season two finale on Monday, May 22 which will feature the return of Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) and Superman (Tyler Hochelin). In addition to that, we will be meeting Mark Gibbon as General Zod, one of the biggest villains in the Superman mythology. Show-runner and executive producer Andrew Kreisberg teased their finale as the biggest and most exciting episode of the second season.
“With the return of Superman and Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart first resurfaces on May 15), we are poised for our biggest most exciting episode of the season. Big fights, big guest stars, big emotion — it’s going to be amazing.”
Next up is The Flash that will be airing its season three finale on Tuesday, May 23. Based on TV Line’s description, it sounds like we will find out who Savitar actually is before the finale. The tease for the season three finale will end on a major cliffhanger that will leave us with a lot of questions for the fourth season.
“After discovering Savitar’s true identity, Team Flash prepares for a final, epic battle with the God of Speed… while struggling with a major setback. Expect a season-ending cliffhanger that will leave viewers — and the heroes — questioning how they will move forward in Season 4.”
Then we have Arrow which will feature the return of several familiar characters in the season five finale that is set to air on Wednesday, May 24. We will be seeing the return of Katie Cassidy, Manu Bennett and Katrina Law as Black Siren, Deathstroke and Nyssa Al Ghul respectively.
“Chase keeps 10 steps ahead of Team Arrow, forcing Oliver to face his violent past and answer the question once and for all: Is he a killer, or a hero? To answer that, Oliver will be forced to let go of the fate his father burdened him with and aim for a new legacy. And as Oliver’s five years’ worth of flashbacks come to an end, you will see how he planned his escape from Lian Yu — while in the present, Oliver bids said island a final farewell.”
The DC TV season will officially wrap up on Monday, June 5 with the two-hour finale of Gotham Season 3 which is the first time the show has ever given us two episodes back-to-back on the same night. With the arrival of Ra’s Al Ghul (played by Game of Thrones’ Alexander Siddig) at the end of the season, expect a big evolution for Bruce Wayne. But it sounds like more characters will be going through some big changes.
“The end of the Jim/Lee storyline leads to a “rebirth” of the characters as “much darker, more dangerous, almost evil versions of themselves,” says [Executive Producer John] Stephens. Bruce meanwhile “takes his biggest step forward yet to becoming the Dark Knight,” and Selina “get her whip.”
Supergirl Season 2, The Flash Season 3 and Arrow Season 5 air on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights respectively, all at 8/7c. Gotham Season 3 airs on Monday nights at 8/7c on FOX.
