‘Teen Titans Go! To The Movies’ Takes Another Swing At Deadpool

Teen Titans Deathstroke DeadpoolIn a new promotional video, Teen Titans Go! To The Movies made another joke at Deadpool’s expense, claiming he’s a knockoff of DC’s Deathstroke.

Teen Titans Go!‘s Instagram account, posted a video that showed a text conversation between Robin and Deathstroke. Just like the first time around, Robin mixes up Deathstroke with Marvel’s Deadpool:

Teen Titans Go! actually makes a pretty fair point. However, Deadpool is more of a parody of Deathstroke than a direct copy. There was no attempt to hide the inspiration; Deadpool’s alter-ego (Wade Wilson) even rhymes with that of Deathstroke (Slade Wilson). Regardless, this is a fun way to capitalize off the success of Deadpool. Sure, not a lot of kids, who make up a large portion of the audience for Teen Titans Go!, have actually seen Deadpool. Still, the childish reboot of the beloved Cartoon Network series needs to earn back the attention of some disgruntled fans. This is a very smart way to do so.

It seems to the Teens that all the major superheroes out there are starring in their own movies—everyone but the Teen Titans, that is! But de facto leader Robin is determined to remedy the situation, and be seen as a star instead of a sidekick. If only they could get the hottest Hollywood film director to notice them. With a few madcap ideas and a song in their heart, the Teen Titans head to Tinsel Town, certain to pull off their dream. But when the group is radically misdirected by a seriously super villain and his maniacal plan to take over the Earth, things really go awry. The team finds their friendship and their fighting spirit failing, putting the very fate of the Teen Titans themselves on the line!

Directed by Aaron Horvath and Peter Rida Michail, the film features the voice talents of Greg Cipes as Beast Boy, Scott Menville as Robin, Khary Payton as Cyborg, Tara Strong as Raven, Hyden Walch as Starfire, Will Arnett as Slade Wilson and Kristen Bell in an undisclosed role.

Teen Titans GO! To The Movies will be released in theaters on July 27, 2018.

6 Times The Justice League Came Up Short

Previous1 of 7

Justice LeagueThe Justice League is comprised of the best and brightest heroes the DC Universe has to offer. When you’ve got Wonder Woman, Superman and Batman all on one team, it’s a hard combination to beat. Despite their combined strength, the Justice League has been taken down quite a few times in their long history.

Over the years, the League has faced all kinds of threats, ranging from a grief-stricken Black Adam on a rampage to an invasion of White Martians. Usually the Justice Leauge is able to overcome these threats, but sometimes they don’t have what it takes to stop evil. Of course, these are comic books and things usually shift back towards the light side in time, but that doesn’t mean darkness can’t win, at least temporarily.
