While The Flash movie may not have a director anymore as of right now, Barry Allen will be running on the big screen again next year in the upcoming Justice League film that is set to come out in November 2017. In a recent Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them interview, Ezra Miller, who plays The Fastest Man Alive in the DC Extended Universe, was asked about what the Speed Force means to his version of the Scarlet Speedster.
He referenced Martha Graham and one of her quotes, as part of his response to what the Speed Force, which is the source to his speed, means to Barry of the film universe.
“Martha Graham, one of my greatest inspirations, said in a quote “There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening.” To me the idea of a quickening, the idea that the whole universe as we know it is essentially this composition of things moving at different speeds is an interesting idea. So, the Speed Force being the force in the sense that it’s a dimensional reality that is manipulating others, almost like a gravitational wave will manipulate others. That is what’s interesting for my Barry Allen. For me what becomes interesting is the human being suddenly coming into contact and rapidly starting to merge with this force, and what that is for a human being.”
The Flash movie, starring Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Billy Crudup as Henry Allen and Ray Fisher as Victor Stone/Cyborg, currently has a March 16, 2018 release date.
