‘The Walking Dead’: Rumors Of Chandler Riggs’ Departure Addressed By His Mom

In the last week or so, there have been rumors about Chandler Riggs’ departure from The Walking Dead. The actor, who has played Rick Grimes’ son, Carl, since day one of the series, had signed a seven-season contract. The rumors began after Riggs’ father posted to a message on his Facebook page about being thankful for the last seven years.

“7 year contract completed! Grateful to AMC, Cast & Crew, TWD fan base, and especially Chandler for always being 100% dedicated. Whether is was getting up at 4 AM, working in the freezing cold past 2 AM, leaving his friends and carefree kiddom behind, scrambling to make up missed schoolwork, he has done it without complaint and always made me proud & amazed to be his dad!”

Last week, Riggs’ mother posted a photo to Instagram that put her at the location where Chandler’s name appears during the opening credits of the show. Fans must have taken this as some sort of farewell tour. After many comments, she posted on this past Saturday and told fans not to “over analyze”.

“Don’t over analyze. His seven year contract is up. That’s all he was saying, nothing else. Pretty big accomplishment for a child actor (and for the parent who had to quit his job for this child to be able to follow his dream).”

What do you guys think? Is it possible that Chandler Riggs won’t be back for The Walking Dead’s eighth season? Nothing has been officially confirmed regarding Riggs’ status on the show, so only time will tell at this point.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9/8c on AMC.
