5 Things That ‘Justice League’ Needs To Deliver On

5. Tonal Balance

Tone Justice League Deliver

Tone is usually the thing that dictates how you feel while you watch afilm. It encompasses the entirety of the project and it’s felt in every scene. What I hope is that Justice League delivers on balancing varying degrees of tone. Zack Snyder’s previous DC films have been tonally dark. They have relied on the absence of hope and have been bleak in quite a lot of sequences. Both actually had some humor and a few light moments here and there, but not enough to please many fans.

I’m a DC fan and I feel like they need to shift to a balance of darkness and light in a way that makes sense and that works within the narrative well. Justice League will obviously need to find a way to give audiences the dark storytelling that can make for captivating art, but it also needs to find a way to bring that hopeful side that is always present in the comics. The film should be able to make people smile. Justice League is big event film and a balance of being smart with storytelling, yet fun in its approach is crucial for its success.

This list is a great checklist of what to expect. Unfortunately, the movie has an uphill battle to climb against public perception (critics included) with the predisposition to look for anything negative to hang their rope on (to say: “told you so”). So much has been reported within the last year about leaked BTS occurrences, both unconfirmed and ambiguously confirmed. No other film’s production has been examined under the miscroscope like this film has. I hope your list holds true against unwarranted criticism.
