Thor: Ragnarok is less than one month away from hitting theaters and now Marvel Studios Visual Development Supervisor/Concept Artist has shared concept illustrations of the main antagonist who threatened the God of the Thunder in his previous film.
Posted to his official Instagram account, concept artist Andy Park shared new illustrations featuring early designs for the sinister Malekith and his Dark Elf underlings. Portrayed by Christopher Eccleston in Thor: The Dark World, Malekith was one of the more poorly received villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and while these alternate designs may not have improved audience reactions to the character, they are arguably more visually interesting than the final design chosen for the film.

In Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Ragnarok“, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladictorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk!
Directed by Taika Waititi, the film stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban, Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Hopkins.
Thor: Ragnarok will be released in theaters on November 3, 2017.
