‘Thor: Love And Thunder’ Director On If Beta Ray Bill Will Appear

Thor: Love And Thunder Taika Waititi Beta Ray Bill

Taika Waititi, director of the upcoming Marvel Studios film, Thor: Love and Thunder has addressed Beta Ray Bill’s potential appearance in the film.

The coronavirus has many people indoors and finding new ways to occupy their time. Many directors, for example, have taken to watching their films live and commenting on them throughout their runtime. This has included Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi who recently watched Thor: Ragnarok and answered people’s questions during the screening as well. One question that came up was Beta Ray Bill’s potential appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder.

In the comics, Beta Ray Bill is an alien who is the first non-Norse God to wield Mjolnir. This eventually leads to a rivalry between Beta Ray Bill and Thor over who would be allowed to wield the hammer. The two eventually reconciled and Beta Ray Bill was granted his own hammer, Stormbreaker, and has remained a reoccurring ally of Thor ever since. The character has been requested for the Thor films for a while but Taika Waititi is unsure if the character will make it into the upcoming film.

During the watching party, Taika Waititi said that while he would love to include Beta Ray, the film’s development is to early to say one way or another:

“I love Beta Ray Bill. I’d love to have him in the film but I just don’t know right now, thing are a little up in the air.”

Full details on the plot for Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder are currently under wraps, though the film will be based, in part, on Jason Aaron’s Mighty Thor comic book run, in which Jane Foster becomes the new Thor. Directed by Taika Waititi from a script he co-wrote with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the film stars Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, and Christian Bale.

Thor: Love and Thunder is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on February 18, 2022.
