Marvel Studios executive David Maisel and Queensland Premier Annnastacia Palaszczuk announced principal photography for Thor: Ragnarok would begin on July 4th in Australia. The film’s production will be based out of the Village Roadshow Studios and is expected to go to late October. In a video from The Bulletin, Maisel said:
“We opened the offices in Gold Coast about three months ago and we start principal photography in Gold Coast Australia on Thor: Ragnarok on July 4 and we’ll be shooting there through to late October.”
He also went on to talk about getting locals involved in the production of the film, and supplying jobs.
“Hundreds and hundreds of local folk — as many as we can possibly get while we are there.”
Palaszczuk spoke of her excitement for hosting the film, and the continuation of this partnership for years to come.
“It’s really exciting and Queensland wants to keep partnering with Marvel for many, many more years to come.”
Thor: Ragnarok will be directed by Taika Waititi, and stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Mark Ruffalo, Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, and Karl Urban.
