A cool piece of fan art shows Tom Cruise suited up as Green Latern Hal Jordan for Warner Brothers’ DCEU franchise.

Back in 2017, Tom Cruise was on a shortlist of actors that DC Entertainment wanted to pursue for the role of Hal Jordan in a Green Lantern Corps movie. The list also included Bradley Cooper, Armie Hammer, Jake Gyllenhaal and even Ryan Reynolds, who portrayed Hal Jordan in the 2011 Green Lantern movie. While nothing ever came out of the list, Green Lantern fans can see what Tom Cruise could look like as Hal thanks to artwork by digital artist Mizuri.

Warner Bros. is currently working on Green Lantern Corps, with both Hal Jordan and John Stewart set to appear in the highly-anticipated DCEU movie. Former DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer Geoff Johns is writing and producing Green Lantern Corps. The project has been described as “Lethal Weapon in space,” with Hal training John in the ways of the Green Lantern Corps.

As for Tom Cruise himself, the 57-year-old actor is currently working on the long-awaited sequel to Top Gun, titled Top Gun: Maverick. Tom Cruise will star in the film alongside Miles Teller, Val Kilmer, Kelly McGillis, Jennifer Connelly, Glen Powell, Monica Barbaro, Thomasin McKenzie, Charles Parnell, Jay Ellis, Bashir Salahuddin, Danny Ramirez, Jon Hamm and Ed Harris. In addition, Tom Cruise is already set to return for Mission: Impossible sequels with an Edge of Tomorrow sequel in development as well.

Green Lantern Corps is one of many projects currently being developed for the DCEU. The list also includes The BatmanThe FlashThe Suicide SquadBirds of PreyBlack Adam, Nightwing, Supergirl, and New Gods.

The DCEU continues with Margot Robbie’s Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) on February 7, 2020, followed by Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5, 2020. A Joker film set outside of the DC Extended Universe starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime is also set to open on October 4, 2019.
